What Do you think about Automatic Drivers?
A question poped up this evening over dinner - If you pass your Driving test on a automatic driving test would you be able to drive a Smart car For Two? As the car has both automatic and Manuel selection with out clutch?

Some are just semi-auto only.

Re: What Do you think about Automatic Drivers?
There was a woman on Ebay who went to pick up the Smart car she had just bought, only to find out from here insurers wouldn't give her a cover note to drive it away?
She passed her test in an Auto car, and the Smart is called as Semi-Auto?
As I was the second highest bidder, the bloke offered it to me, but I had just bought my one on Ebay, the day before

Re: What Do you think about Automatic Drivers?
A driver having a category B auto driving licence can drive both automatic and semi automatic cars. See section 6.09, page 143 of below document titled DT1 Standard operating procedure for the guidance of all examiners carrying out car, motorcycle, taxi, large goods vehicle, passenger carrying vehicle and extended testsfrom where following clarification on OP's query may be found: SEMI-AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS With these the driver has to select the gear required by movement of the gear lever as with a manually controlled gearbox, but there is no clutch pedal. For driving test and licensing purposes these vehicles are regarded as automaticshttp://assets.dft.gov.uk/publications/dsa-operational-guidance/dsa-dt1-standard-operating-procedure.pdfQED
