Post Smart mobile [for now]
First off thx to all who helped and assisted with advice and guidance I am happy to annonce that all our fears were unfounded on the whole with a new oil change and brakelight switch fitted this SMART fear we possessed is really not that true we have i have to say been worried about touching it after reading several posts here and elsewhere about how hard they are to work on buti have to say i didnt find it so on the whole it was certainly fiddly, we had a lack of space in parts and the undersheild is **** [a nessesary evil] but we managed in our home garage with only a small toolkit and a set of ramps [home ramps]that is my missus and i:D] to complete the tasks above now high on our success we arre going to attempt the front and side window fixes ??

So i would say to anyone not wanting to diy to give it a go its honestly not as scary or hard as you might think why garages charge so much to complete these tasks i will never know thats teh headlight bulb, brakelight switch and oil change under my belt all of which are exepensive jobs to have done for you im well chuffed .....

half the reason things are expensive when you take your car some where to be fixed is the labour cost!
How long did it take you to complete your tasks? 2 hours? 4 hours? What ever it was, multipy it by £40 ~ £50 plus per hour and you have your big bills!

Not everybody either can or wants to get their hands dirty, so there will always be garages to fix your car.

Agreed obviously garage will always be required i just wasnt for a multiplicity of reasons able to get mine to a garage and have to say i was put of at first however the point of my thread was mainly to point out its not as hard as it seems working on these Smart cars ...

Only down side still got a slight oil leak from the stupid drain plug so a new sump will require to be ordered sooner rather than later  and my two yellow lights have not gone out on my dash even although the brakelights are now working spot on / and my gaerchanges are far better ... All in all a pretty productive old day or two would i do it again ? probably if i thought i was i up to it certainly i would look closer at the requirements to complete a anon task on it thats for sure ...

And also on the plus side it saved me a good wack and got my garage tidied out so it could get in it result ....
